Remix and Gopher move stem splitting and help into FL Studio

The tool moment

Image-Line's FL Studio 2026 release page folds two AI-assisted features into the sequencer: a “Remix a Song” tool the page describes as helping a user “start with the correct BPM and Stems seperation,” and an assistant called Gopher that, per the same page, “can organize tracks, set levels, route audio, and even generate Piano roll and VFX scripts on demand,” addressed “in your native language.” Image-Line's edition comparison data describes the stem tool plainly: it can “split any track into vocals, drums, and instruments for remixing or sampling.” Both features live inside the DAW rather than as a separate step, which is the workflow change worth naming: a producer no longer bounces a file to a third-party splitter or opens another app's chat window to ask how a feature works.

What the documents show

Image-Line's release page and homepage are marketing copy, not an independent audit, and neither publishes a calendar date for the 2026 release, so this entry treats the year as the only certain figure. On privacy, the release page states of Gopher: “No data collection of your work, no training models, just help when you need it,” and that cloud-saved projects are “Private, encrypted, and never used to train AI.” The FL Studio homepage adds Gopher is “Built into FL Studio and trained on our official manual.” A dedicated Gopher page confirms it answers about “FL Studio features, pricing, editions, plugins, or system requirements” and routes anything else to Support – a scope statement, not a demonstrated limit.

What stays with the musician

A tool that can “start with the correct BPM and Stems seperation” still leaves the remix itself to the producer: what to keep, cut, re-pitch or rearrange from the separated parts is a musical decision the software does not make. Gopher adding a plugin, setting a fader level, or generating a Piano roll script on request changes who does the mechanical step, not who decides whether the result serves the song; accepting every suggested move without listening back hands over judgment the tool was never described as providing.

Judge it by listening

Image-Line makes no claim about separation quality for Remix a Song, so any judgment of the stems has to come from listening, not marketing copy. This is editorial guidance beyond the source: solo each extracted stem against the original mix and listen at the edges of dense passages, where separation artifacts are most audible, before building a remix on top of it.

• Does a stem pulled from Remix a Song survive being soloed, or does it only sound convincing under the full mix?
• When Gopher completes a requested edit, does the reader check the actual mixer or Piano roll change before moving on?
• What happens to a question outside FL Studio's own manual – does Gopher say so, or guess?

Folding stem separation and a manual-trained assistant into the main window is a real workflow change from 2018's separate-utility era, but Image-Line's own materials describe help and automation, not taste; the remix decision and the mix check both still belong to the person at the keyboard.
