01 / Phrase to picture

Cue timing calculator

Try a tempo and a phrase length before cutting to picture. BPM here always means quarter notes per minute, including in compound meter.

Constant tempo only. No pickups, tempo ramps, swing offsets, frame-rate conversion or reverb tails. This is a timing aid, not a guarantee of picture sync.

Work through a thirty-second cue ↗
Enter values and calculate. At 120 quarter-note BPM, eight bars of 4/4 last 16 seconds.

Seconds = bars × numerator × (4 ÷ denominator) × 60 ÷ BPM. Target bars may be fractional; exact duration need not make a satisfying ending.
